Blue Planet Showcases Agentic AI Framework at DTW25
Blue Planet puts telecom OSS front and center of digital transformation
12 Jun 2025 / COPENHAGEN
As communication service providers (CSPs) embrace a new operations support system (OSS) mindset for the Artificial Intelligence (AI) era, Agentic AI is emerging as a transformative force. Blue Planet, a division of Ciena (NYSE:CIEN), is at the forefront of this shift, introducing an open and purpose-built Agentic AI Framework underpinned by deep telecom domain and Operations Support System (OSS) expertise. Attendees of Digital Transformation World (DTW), June 17-19, 2025, in Copenhagen, Denmark, will be able to experience Blue Planet’s unique approach to operational intelligence and digital transformation.
Blue Planet’s Agentic AI framework will empower intelligent agents that act with intent, context, and coordination — enabling CSPs to evolve from manual processes to a more autonomous network.
“The most advanced OSS are transforming into powerful, AI-driven platforms for end-to-end network automation and are already poised to support autonomous networking as soon as a CSP is ready,” said Caroline Chappell, Director, CCsquared. “A thoughtful, flexible and open agentic AI framework with a strong roadmap and internal governance is key to the successful implementation of autonomous networking. CSPs should carefully evaluate such frameworks to ensure their AI-enriched OSS choices are future-proof, secure and can deliver measurable results for their business.”
Speaking Sessions:
- Blue Planet’s Sumit Verdi, Senior Director of Outbound Product and Solutions Management, will join Bhaskar Dutta, Chief Product Officer at Canopus Networks, for a Loft Talk titled Agentic OSS: Networks That Heal Experience, Not Just Infrastructure (June 17, 12:15 PM, Park Stage). The session will spotlight a disruptive vision for operations platforms that prioritize end-user experience over traditional fault management. Drawing on real-time application Quality of Experience (QoE) telemetry and adaptive network intelligence, the speakers will explore how CSPs can build networks that act with intent and deliver elevated customer experiences.
- In the Open-API Architectures: Lessons from Real-World Deployments discussion track (June 19, 9:30 – 10:30AM, Park Stage), Gabriele Di Piazza, Vice President of Product Management, Alliances and Architectures for Blue Planet, and Carsten Rasmussen, Head of Applications and Architecture at TDC Net, will discuss how the operator is using Blue Planet to reduce inventory management system complexity and improve operational efficiencies to the benefit of their customers.
Experience AI-Driven Innovation at the Blue Planet Booth (#224):
- AI Studio and Agentic AI Framework: Build, operate, and scale AI agents with OSS-native tools and domain intelligence — all in one unified environment, deployed across Blue Planet’s Inventory, Orchestration, and Assurance portfolio.
- Dynamic 5G Network Slicing Automation: Showcasing end-to-end network slice design, activation, and assurance from the core to the RAN, enabling faster monetization of 5G networks.
- AI-powered Service Assurance: Real-time AI insights drive proactive fault, performance and service management incorporating 3rd party application QoE recommendations and “what-if” analysis.
- Network as a Service (NaaS): Accelerate on demand activation of services from days to hours with intent-based, zero-touch, multi-vendor, cross-domain orchestration.
- Network Digital Twin: Simulate, visualize, and troubleshoot your live network with a real-time, multi-layer what-if analysis and planning.
Other Demonstration Highlights:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) joint demo (located at the Mezzanine): This demo showcases how telecom operators can reduce operational costs, cut service rollout failures, and improve customer experience through proactive service assurance. The solution unites Blue Planet's Network Slicing solution, Ciena's Navigator Network Control Suite, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Bedrock, foundation AI models, and multi-agent AI collaboration capabilities to automate the entire 5G slice lifecycle - from ordering to operations - while reducing deployment time from weeks to hours.
- TM Forum Catalyst: Unleash the potential of generative AI in 5G networks for network slicing: This catalyst project demonstrates dynamic spectrum sharing and personalized network slicing in 5G networks, addressing the challenges of traditional static slice configurations. Using generative AI to translate customer service intent into service templates, the 5G service is fulfilled via slice creation and activation with Machine Learning driven dynamic spectrum allocation for 5G cells and user equipment.
