Blue Planet to Power Communication Service Provider Transformation at DTW24

With an emphasis on empowering growth in a cloud, AI-focused era, Blue Planet, a division of Ciena (NYSE:CIEN), will showcase a series of demonstrations, including its Cloud Native Platform at this year’s Digital Transformation World (DTW), happening June 18 – 20, 2024 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Blue Planet experts will also be at booth #224 to discuss how communication service providers can simplify network transformation to an AI-driven and automated Operations Support System (OSS) environment. Other Blue Planet demonstrations at DTW include the newly introduced Blue Planet AI Studio, 5G planning and deployment, 5G network slicing, 5G assurance, and broadband services automation with zero-touch provisioning.

Blue Planet is also participating in two innovative catalyst proof-of-concept projects, including:

  • Interoperable logical resource management platform (tmforum.org): Orchestrating logical resources such as IP addresses, phone numbers and IoT numbers is a complex challenge for service providers. This catalyst aims to define and demonstrate an Open Digital Architecture (ODA)-compliant, cloud-native, scalable Logical Resource Management (LRM) framework.
  • AI-Powered sustainable smart farming (tmforum.org): Smart Farming has a huge potential to drive revenues from IoT, with telco connectivity enabling B2B2X commercial models. But to unlock it, 5G private networks, network slicing, and edge computing are key to transform the operations of Smart Farming companies. In this catalyst, Blue Planet will collaborate with other service providers and vendors to demonstrate an innovative AI-driven approach that leverages data analytics and GenAI to create bespoke offerings, optimizing network resources, radio spectrum, cloud infrastructure and agriculture supplies in real time.

In the Accelerating Innovation with Open APIs discussion track (June 20, from 9:30am–11am on Stage A), Kailem Anderson, Vice President of Portfolio and Engineering at Blue Planet, and John Walsh, Director of Technology Transformation atVirgin Media Ireland (VMIE) will discuss how the operator is using Blue Planet to fully automate its next-gen Fibre Broadband Services delivery.
